Since I had my daughter, we have had a cleaning service. Both my husband and I have full-time jobs outside the home. We decided that cleaning was not something we wanted to focus on during our free time together. Paying for a cleaning service was an expense we were willing to incur. Recently, we stopped using our cleaning service. Here’s why and what happened.Continue Reading
Making Traffic Tolerable {A Podcast Review}
When I moved a little further from work a couple of years ago, the drive wasn’t horrible. As more companies have opened up downtown, great things have been happening in the city. However, with those great things come more traffic. I found myself so stressed when I would get to work and even more stressed by the time I got home. I had to find ways to making traffic tolerable. Enter podcasts.
As someone who is on the cusp of the Generation X and Millennial generations, I had admittedly not checked out podcasts until this point. Sure, I had definitely heard about them but never listened. So naturally, I went to my Facebook friends to ask for assistance.Continue Reading
The Do’s and Don’ts of Road Tripping {With Little Ones}
We recently made the road trip from the Detroit area to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Our main reason for making this trek across the East Coast was simply cost. Four plane tickets during winter break was really going to hit our pockets hard. So, after making the 21 hour drive to and from Fort Lauderdale, we made it out alive. Plus, I’m sharing some do’s and don’ts of road tripping with little ones.Continue Reading
Designing Our Future {Intentio Innovations}
The lights are flashing. The sound is booming. The crowd is so loud it’s hard to even hear your own thoughts. Everyone around you is waiting in a baited anticipation for the Red Wings to make their big debut in the new arena. Everyone is watching that entrance on the ice. But you have your eyes on just one person in particular.
You have your eyes on the person who had a big hand in the coordination and design of the structure everyone is standing in. You have your eyes on the person who, for over a year, knew more about the details of this arena than he would even tell his own wife. You have your eyes on the person who you are so unbelievably proud to call your own, it makes your heart pound an extra beat.Continue Reading
Moments: Take Pictures of Them or Be Present in Them
As a mom and especially as a blogger, I’m always looking to capture the great picture. Whether the kids are hugging, reading books, or have genuine belly laugh, this Momma doesn’t want to miss a thing. But, if i’m sitting there observing through the lense of my camera, am I really present for the moment? On the other hand, I like to look back at photos of them when they were young. So, what’s better about those moments, to take pictures of them or be present in them?
Recently, I tested myself. It was just an average night and the kids needed a bath. My husband offered to do this bath this time around. Usually we tag team bath time. I get one kid done and out then he slides in for the other. But, I wasn’t going to turn down the offer so I let him take over bath time.Continue Reading
Tired of Looking Tired {A Little Help From VIIcode}

I’ve written before about ways to defy my age. It’s true about turning 32. There was something that happened with me that made me just feel more… tired. My kids didn’t change. Their sleep schedules didn’t change. I did. But, I’m tired of being tired.
The only thing I can imagine as the reason: putting too much on myself. I just can’t handle it as well as I used to… it’s more exhausting now. But, does that mean I’m going to cut back? Likely not.Continue Reading
Improving My “Mom Style” With Stitch Fix
As far as style goes, I’m just okay. I can put things together and make them look presentable, but fashionista, I am not. I would shop every few months from different department stores but felt like it was all the same. In an attempt to stay in tune with style but still feel comfortable, I looked into Stitch Fix. After a few minutes, I knew this was the avenue for improving my “mom style.”Continue Reading
Learning to Become the Yes Mom
Don’t worry, my children won’t be tearing apart the store shelves, that is not what I mean. I’m usually so wrapped up in order and schedule that I forget about fun. So, I’m learning to become the yes mom.
Generally speaking, we would stick to a pretty tight schedule. Breakfast, school drop-off, grocery shopping, then back to the house for some play time. Lunch is followed by nap time, then school pick-up and dinner prep. By the time bedtime hits, and we are ready for the next day, I realize my only day off with my kids has flown by.Continue Reading
Why Everyone Should Have a Fitting Room {Mini} Coach
Generally speaking, I tend to do most of my shopping online. Since having kids, it’s just easier. I know my size and if I don’t like it, I can return it easily. After having kids, I also hate fitting rooms. Not only do I not have the additional time to try on outfits, but I never enjoy viewing all those angles in the 7 mirrors that are apparently necessary.
Recently, I needed an outfit in a pinch. I didn’t plan ahead and had to quickly run out to the store and find something cute. I tried to sneak away but my daughter gave me her “mom, please take me with you eyes” and I just couldn’t say no.Continue Reading
