I am a self-driven, hard-working perfectionist that has come to terms with the fact that I may be a bit high maintenance. I’m not your typical high maintenance girl; I don’t require a ton of make-up or expensive clothes. I have high standards for my own life and I guess I always have. My dad said it best when my husband asked for my hand in marriage (yes, he’s old-fashioned). He was happy to give his blessing and welcome Matt into the family and ended the meeting with “well, she’s yours to handle now.”
My days now consist of maintaining a job as a full-time immigration paralegal, Detroit Moms Blog contributor, wife, and most importantly, mom. I don’t allow myself much wiggle room to be less than 100% at any of my jobs. This blog will allow me to share how I’m managing to maintain ME through it all.
Me & The Hubby
It’s just your average love story. Girl goes unwillingly to a college party full of high school alumni. Girl sees boy from high school that catches her eye. Girl falls head over heels for boy but waits for boy to make the first move. Boy takes a little too long to make the first move. Girl tells boy’s best friend she’s definitely interested. Boy finally makes first move. And they live happily ever after … Ok, so it isn’t your typical love story AND there’s a whole lot more story, but that’s for another day!
My Little Loves
My strong-willed, smart, beautiful, ‘can’t-find-enough-adjectives-to-describe-her’ daughter came into this world and made me a MOM. She gave me the most important title I will ever have. This little girl with the BIGGEST personality amazes me every day. Her quick wit, sense of humor, and caring heart are shaping her into an outstanding young girl.
My little mama’s boy. Everyone should get to have one of these in their lifetime. I’m serious. The closeness and love he has for me fills my heart and gives me butterflies. I don’t mind when he wakes me up on a Saturday morning because I’m greeted by a little Gerber baby face beaming back at me. He manages to be happy even when he’s sad. He’s truly always my bright light on any dreary day.
I can’t forget about my first little ‘fur’ love. This little guy won over my heart long before I said ‘I do’. He’s my late night snuggle, my foot warmer, and companion. At emotional times when I was struggling to get pregnant and during each pregnancy, this guy sensed the perfect timing for the comfort I needed. He’s loving with the kids and appreciates how messy they are at meals!
Reading and writing have always been my first loves so naturally that led me to the legal field. After finishing my Bachelor’s at Michigan State University, I pursued my Juris Doctorate at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. I quickly realized an attorney’s life was not one I desired. After leaving law school, some soul searching, a cross-country move to Arizona and back to Michigan, and a year later, I was taking classes to get my paralegal certificate and looking for jobs. Shortly after I landed my current job working in immigration and I never looked back.
